What is Interstate or long-distance moving?
There are basically two types of moves; interstate (Long Distance) and local. Local moves are typically defined as a shorter distance move within one state’s borders and typically take one or two days to complete. Local moves are priced by the number of workers and the number of hours needed to complete the move.
Interstate moves are typically a long-distance move from one state to another and require more thorough planning, packing, and preparation. The transportation costs of interstate moves are calculated using the weight of the shipment, the distance traveled, and the cost of living profile of the origin and destination cities.
Since RI is so tiny, moves that cross into Massachusetts and Connecticut can be priced as either a local or interstate move. Arpin of RI will calculate the pricing for both shipping types and charge the lower of the two options.
Arpin RI also offers a small shipment option called Priority Relocation Service or PRS. The priority shipping option is a good fit for tiny shipments, smaller shipments needing a fast transit time, smaller shipments going to out-of-the-way places, or any combination of these factors.
Long Distance Move Packing & Storage Options
Arpin of RI offers interstate packing services as well. We offer a hybrid packing program where customers can pack all of their items, Arpin RI can pack all of them, or we can combine our different skills to tailor a custom packing solution to fit every customer’s needs.
Customers who are relocating to another state might have to temporarily store their items during the move. This is called Storage in Transit or SIT. Arpin of Rhode Island’s one-acre warehouse is the perfect location to temporarily store your items while your new home is being built or waiting for the closing. Arpin of RI has a storage solution to fit every interstate customer’s needs.
Getting a Long Distance Moving Price Quote
Arpin of RI offers customers two ways to get a long-distance moving price quote. The standard way is to make an appointment for a salesperson to visit your home for a free, no-obligation in-home estimate.
During the estimate, the salesperson will visually determine the truck access, and evaluate items to be packed and moved. When completed, they will furnish you with a written estimate for the services requested.
Arpin of RI can also perform a “virtual estimate” without any person to person contact. With a virtual estimate, the customer and salesperson will meet phone to phone using a mobile app similar to FaceTime. The customer will provide the same guided tour, but use their cell phone camera as the eyes and ears of the salesperson. As with the standard estimate, the customer will get an itemized written quote when a virtual estimate is performed.
