Long-term storage or permanent storage is the storage of household items for longer than 180 days. Typically, if interstate moving customers need storage, it will be short-term storage called storage in transit or SIT. Arpin of RI offers both long-term and short-term storage options. While long-term storage can last for years, even decades, SIT is limited to 180 days and then it converts to permanent or long-term storage. Long term storage has the same rate structure as storage in transit or SIT, dollars per pound per day, but long-term storage has different valuation options. SIT has Released or $.60 per pound and Full Value Replacement (FVR) valuation options, while Long-term storage has Released and Actual Cash Value valuation.
