Authority

The concept of operating authority on a move is analogous to the overall responsibility for all aspects of the move. Motor carriers obtain operating authority, national authority or state authority, by satisfying that regulating body’s insurance and management requirements.  For national moves, Arpin of RI is obligated to use Arpin Van Lines’ interstate operating authority for all long-distance moves. This means that Arpin Van Lines is responsible for all of the qualifications, registrations, compliance, permits, taxes, laws, fines, performance metrics, and insurances required by the Federal Government.  For local or short-distance moves, Arpin of RI uses its Massachusetts or Rhode Island operating authority’s. As with long-distance authority, when it is a local move, Arpin of RI is responsible for all of the qualifications, registrations, compliance, permits, taxes, laws, fines, performance metrics, and insurances required by the Stet of RI or the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
