An essentials box is a special carton prepared by the customer or mover which contains items that will be needed immediately at destination. It is sometimes referred to as the Open first box. The list of items deemed essential will vary from family to family, but typically essential items include paper goods, food, light bulbs, tools, a first-aid kit, coffee maker, cups, plasticware, etc. For pet owners, essentials may include pet food, bowls, leashes, sanitary items, etc. For parents, essentials may include toys, games, snacks, etc.
Arpin of RI suggests that customers give careful consideration to what they may need first thing on move in day and accumulate these essential items in one location at origin. This will allow the Arpin crew to pack these items together and properly label the essential box so it can be located right away at destination.
