A tractor trailer is a long-haul vehicle used to haul long-distance HHG shipments and/or very large local shipments. A tractor trailer is as its name suggests, a combination vehicle of a tractor power unit towing a trailer. Arpin of RI only uses specialized HHG trailers made by Kentucky Trailer Corp. These trailers have beautiful hardwood floors so mover can slide furniture. They have finished walls, usually painted white, so that furniture does not snag when loaded. They also have transparent roofs to allow in natural lighting. Lastly, they have underfloor stowage areas, or belly boxes, where the ramps and other equipment are stored. Arpin of RI’s interstate fleet of HHG tractor trailers can hold between 24,000 and 28,000 pounds of furniture or the equivalent of three fully furnished Cape Cod homes.
