A proviso is an archaic term in HHG transportation that refers to the types of cargo hauled and the individual business rules, valuation, and pricing for each. There are three types of provisos used by domestic HHG movers; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd provisos. Articles classified as 1st proviso are standard HHG items typically found in all residences. 2nd proviso articles are classified as office fixtures, furniture, and equipment or FF&E. These are priced using a different tariff than standard HHGs. 3rd proviso articles are specialized furniture and fixtures typically associated with trade shows and exhibits. These also have specific valuation and pricing rules.
