Operating Authority

Operating authority is a certification issued by a state or federal governmental regulating agency which authorizes a carrier to move household goods. Motor carriers obtain operating authority, national authority or state authority, by satisfying the regulating body’s insurance and management requirements.  For national moves, Arpin of RI is obligated to use Arpin Van Lines’ interstate operating authority for all long-distance moves. This means that Arpin Van Lines is responsible for all of the qualifications, registrations, compliance, permits, taxes, laws, fines, performance metrics, and insurances involved with the move. For local or short-distance moves, Arpin of RI uses its Massachusetts or Rhode Island operating authorities. For these local moves, Arpin of RI is responsible for all of the qualifications, registrations, compliance, permits, taxes, laws, fines, performance metrics, and insurances involved with the move.
